Anupama as a student.....
I am indeed happy to know that Ms Anupama Srivastava is embarking on the path to nurture talents and foster, preserve the classical dance tradition of Kathak. Anupama, during her years of training under me, was a sensitive and dedicated dancer with great talent, devotion and artistry. She displayed great skill in rhythmic and abhinaya aspects of this dance form. She was part of several of my dance productions and had even accompanied me as member of my dance group to various Festivals. Anupama’s focused
attention will prove to be an asset in this endeavour of hers. I wish her all success in the years to come.

As a performer.......
I have known Anupama for the last 9 years. Trained in the Lucknow style of Kathak under the legendary danseuse, Mrs. Shovana Narayan, she has imbibed the finer nuances of the art form with grace and poise. Her performances are marked by an excellent command over both rhythm and technique. Her great passion for the art form has led her to continue exploring the boundaries of Kathak and creatively innovate within the tradition. Her enthusiasm and positive energy is sure to inspire all those who get to know her. I wish her the best in all her endeavors.

I have known Anupama since the last eight years. We trained and performed under Parna Basu for a few years. During this time, I had the opportunity to interact with Anupama on a personal level. We performed together in the iKathak Show in 2006. Anupama's dedication, enthusiasm, and utter love for Kathak shine through in the way she dances with abandon and complete harmony with music. She thoroughly enjoys dancing and I am sure that as a teacher she will certainly excel and bring that energy to her classes that only comes from someone completely in love with their art. I wish her all the very best in her endeavor!"

Although I was there for a short visit, it was a great experience to watch the hard work that all the students put at the show. The lighting, the costumes and coordination was very well thought out.
The mother-daughter duo on the song abke baras from film Bandini which was originally composed by SD Burman and sung by Asha Bhosle was a highlight for me. For the portion, which was sung by Swasti Pandey, it was expressed so beautifully on the stage with Anupama in the front and Reva on the background told the story through abhinaya, lighting, stage presence and well woven into the story. The 2nd part is a sitar-violin jugalbandi by Anoushka Shankar and Patricia Kopatchinskaja was an interesting blend of how times change and roles change but yet the love for dance and the passion remains the same. What a beautiful way to connect the past to the present and keep it relevant!! Best wishes to many more such wonderful programs and looking forward to collaborate with you again soon.

We express our deep sense of gratitude and feel humbled, to be a part of this epic "Abhinay Nritya" titled - "Bachpann", that has the voice of Swasti Pandey in the background song - "Abke Baras Bhejo Bhaiya Ko Babul". The chemistry of the mother-daughter duo, accentuated by fine nuances of Kathak by Anupama Srivastava and her daughter Reva, is overwhelmingly emotional! Kudos to the Guru, the shishya daughter, the instrumental accompanists and everyone involved.

As a guru......
Anupama is my first guru and I am extremely happy that my daughter and I started learning this divine art form with her. She is very professional and puts in a lot of effort on creating class sessions, costume design, and choreography. In a short span of time, my daughter and I have learnt a lot and have been able to fulfill our dream of dancing together.

Anupama is a great guru...she embodies the ideal combination of someone who has thorough knowledge of the arts and knows how to keep the children interested and involved. My daughter has been learning Kathak from Anupama for 4 years. With Anupama's guidance, she has blossomed into a beautiful dancer. Kathak helps connect my daughter to the Indian culture and she has developed a love for the dance. Anupama is a wonderful guru and I feel blessed to have her in my daughter's life.

Anupama ji is an amazing teacher and a wonderful person. She teaches with a lot of patience and good humor and is able to teach in a way that her students- no matter their age- can clearly understand and learn the finer points of Kathak. She is passionate about Kathak and it is reflected in the time and effort she puts into making sure students have a good grasp of the technical aspects of Kathak while also learning a about the theory and history of the art form. Her choreography is innovative and extremely enjoyable for viewers and dancers alike. It is a testament to her teaching skills and genuine passion for the dance form that not only did my 9 year old daughter enjoy Anupama ji's classes, but now I have been learning from her and am thoroughly enjoying the experience.

My Kathak guru, Anupama Srivastava, is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had, probably in any plane of education I’d say. The best thing about her is that she is so approachable. All students in the class get individual attention. Care is taken that we do not repeat our mistakes, that we are corrected in time. I feel free to ask her any question, and I know she’ll be there for me: to correct me, to explain, to basically demystify Kathak.

I am really glad a friend of mine connected me with Anupama. My daughter took interest in the classes almost immediately. She looks forward to her sessions and performances. She finds the elder students very inspiring and strives to reach their level someday. While learning the art form is the main objective, Anupama teaches them other important life lessons too. I have seen my daughter becoming a more confident person; she is learning time management and values friends she makes during the class. I cannot thank InSyncKathak enough for making the kids a part of their amazing journey.
